Our Instructor
Lori Richards, Director
Lori Richards is the director of The Music Village. She holds a Master of Arts in flute performance from Western Carolina University and a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the University of Alabama.
With over 40 years' experience as a private flute instructor, Ms. Richards enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels--from young children to adults. She has served as adjunct faculty at both Lynchburg College in Virginia and Western Carolina University. She became a registered instructor with the Suzuki Association of the Americas in 1987 and is also certified in Orff-Schulwerk.
Ms. Richards was a founding member of the Atlanta-based chamber groups Woodsong, Chrysalis and Cirrus, as well as the western North Carolina chamber group Silverwood. She teaches Suzuki flute and Music Reading at The Music Village in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
In teaching music to children and adults, Ms. Richards employs a positive, encouraging approach that instills the importance of perseverance through small, achievable steps. Parent involvement is highly encouraged, making music lessons a family activity and fostering great success.
